Meredith for president leads Iowa Democratic ticket

At the Iowa Democratic state conference in Des Moines the slogan Meredith for president was adopted for the party delegation to the national convention. A strong state ticket was chosen for the primaries with Claude Porter to run for United States senator Clyde Herring for governor and Charles Cameron as running mate. Ruth Summer was nominated for secretary of state and the committee prepared a slate including J. E. Craven treasurer J. Ray Files attorney general and others. Porter defended the administration as the conference approved the ticket with orderly proceedings and a calm atmosphere.

Iowa Delegates Debate Nomination and Cedar Rapids Convention
