Lost Arcturus resurfaces after two weeks of silence
Washington reports anxiety over the vessel Arcturus of the William Beebe New York Zoological Society expedition. The ship left New York February 16 to study the Sargasso Sea Humboldt current and Galapagos but went through the Panama Canal March 23 for coal and provisions. Messages from the ship had been sparse and the wireless link was in a known static zone, raising concern until a relay via two ships confirmed the Arcturus was heard again.

Chicago traders sent wheat higher at the open with May delivery jumping to about 1.68 a bushel and prices showing gaps of up to two cents in early trading.
