Pioneer Pastor Called Beyond in Cedar Falls
Dr. James Edgar Snowden Iowa’s oldest Congregational minister died in Cedar Falls at 1 am aged 84 after 50 years in active ministry. He served Oskaloosa Storm Lake LeMars Fayette and Cedar Falls and later was pastor emeritus at Cedar Falls. Survived by wife three sons and three daughters. He began preaching in 1839 and visited Iowa in 1855 before settling there in 1870. His life connected with Teachers College G A R and state church circles, leaving a lasting civic and religious legacy.
