Everglade kites hunt snails and spar with hunters
Berkeley April 7 report by Swarth of the University of California notes the Everglade kite hunts snails almost exclusively, extracting shells midflight or on perch. The bird, though a predator, lauds need protection as many hawks are slaughtered by ignorant hunters. Separate note: Wilhelmshaven, once Germany’s largest North Sea garrison, now has 70,000 residents.
