The fall term of the Appalachian Training School opened August 26 with good enrollment and active interest. Visitors include Prof. M L Tremain of Salem and Dr. Jones of Johnson City, plus a Baptist and Methodist community scene with services, picnics, and a musical recital by western visitors. The fish hatchery at Rutherwood nears completion and will stock fish this fall. Boone docket is reportedly the largest on record. Dr. Jas E Hillman, Raleigh, spent Sunday in Boone after earning a Ph D at Peabody. Malcomb Holshouser and wife of Tacoma, visiting Blowing Rock, will soon return. he is a manufacturing jeweler driving a Chevrolet on a 15 day return trip.

Mrs. C. C. Adams wife of the late W. W. Presnell died at her daughter’s Boone home after a long illness. Interment was in the Adams cemetery. Survived by husband and two daughters Mrs. Josie McGuire and Mrs. John Greer, both of Boone, with extended sympathy from neighbors and kin. Mount Zion Lutheran church holds Wee-a-day Bible school with daily children sessions and services led by Rev. W. A. Lutz and Rev. H. W. Jeffcoat this week.
