Mr I a Greene returns to work at the mill while Mrs Carlton recovers from surgery in Wilkes Hospital. Local residents share visits, moves, purchases including a Ford roadster, and family moments. Notes of travel, farming tasks, and community chatter fill this rural update.

Local figures W A Watson and W D Lookabill were noted for insurance efforts and home improvements, while E W Moretz suffered a sawmill fire and faced repeated losses.
Meat Camp Rev L A Wilson preached at Proffit Grove church last Sunday. Mrs Bell Ragan of Boone visited her sister Mrs Jane Miller. Mr McCoy Moretz of Charlotte spent time with his parents and relatives here. Grady Winebarger and Pearl Miller were married Sunday evening with Aleb Winebarger officiating. The couple wishes for a long prosperous life. Louisa Lookabill returned home from Hickory for the weekend. Albert Winebarger and Ed Lookabill left for Concord to serve as Mount Zion Luther Leans delegates.
Raleigh August session closes after seventeen days with the port and water transportation measure approved for November. The session enacted over 400 bills, plus a new per diem increase to ten dollars for lawmakers and amendments to sinking fund protections.
Deputy Recorder John L. Pearce of Wilmington explains that law allows guns in cars as long as they are not concealed. He cautions that placing a pistol on a seat and sitting on it conceals the weapon, which would violate the law.
Large visitor turnout includes Richmond Virginia figures and Missouri teacher elects to join next year. A legislative note from Rep Blaine Coffey explains an amendment inserting Sec T a to the 1923 road law, making failure to enforce sections a misdemeanor with fines. The measure also updates penalties and repeals conflicting laws, protecting flowers shrubs and trees along state and county highways in Watauga Caldwell and Avery Counties.
