Dairy Picnic Draws Big Crowd in Cove Creek
About 600 people from Watauga and Ashe counties attended the dairy picnic at Cove Creek last Friday. The morning program at Cove Creek High School included addresses by Dr. Dougherty and talks by H C Bates and Kirby on purebred stock pasture management and balanced rations. A 2 pm baseball game between Boone business men and county dairy men ended 11 to 4 with Cheese Hard Mast and Jake Horton stars for the dairy side.

Mr J E Kerley Dies After Illness At Bamboo Home
After months of stomach cancer, Mr J E Kerley died at his Bamboo home. The remains were taken to Boomer for interment. He had lived in Watauga county for years and was regarded as a fine citizen. His family of two sons and four daughters were raised there and counted among Wataga’s best citizens.
