Lutherans Hold Morrison Special Services and Report
Special services are held this week at the Episcopal Chapel by the Lutheran community with Rev. W. G. Cobb of Salisbury assisting and Rev. Jeffcoat preaching forceful sermons. Southern Railway Held Responsible for $35 000 Death Verdict
A Charlotte civil court awarded Mrs. Margaret Blum $35000 in the death of her husband George J. Blum from a 1922 Linwood accident in Rowan County. The same crash killed Robert Hayes and Mrs. Hayes seeks $75000. The verdict was Mecklenburg’s largest accidental death award. The Southern previously paid $40000 for a 1915 wreck victim, Harry Talley, who later died.

Hosiery Salesman Arrested in Johnson City Tennessee
The hosiery salesman known as J. J. Dickson was arrested in Johnson City Tennessee after posing as a mill representative. He collected about one third of the price for silk hose and promised delivery later, but no delivery occurred. He used different mill names while running the scheme.

Haynes launches new campaign against home brew
Prohibition Commissioner Haynes announced a drive to stamp out home brewing ingredients. He will revoke permits of breweries that continue making malt syrups used for home beer and notify all brewers to cease immediately. The department aims to end the traffic at the source nationwide.

Reports from the Division of Horticulture at North Carolina State College show eastern North Carolina’s native grown seed potatoes, from mountain origins, equal or surpass Maine and other northern seed. Toils for Recent Violations of Federal Prohibition Laws
Deputy Sheriff George Hayes and Chief W R Greene arrested Wayne Stout and Pomp Hackett after a road camp stop between Boone and Blowing Rock. Bloodhounds Trail Robbers From Banner Elk Post Office Heist
Blood hounds traced a Banner Elk Avery County post office robbery to Shell Creek Tennessee and then to Johnson City. Suspects Albert Lauder milt and Van Jennings were captured and held on federal charges with bonds set at five thousand dollars each. Additional warrants for dry laws violations were issued as the case proceeds at Wilkesboro Federal Court.
