W. C. Barry, 36, publisher of the Johnson County News in Mountain City Tennessee, died from burns after his bed caught fire from a cigarette. He awoke to the blaze, escaped partially, then faded to unconsciousness despite efforts to save him and the house. He was the son of Ed Barry, longtime editor of the same paper.
