He attacked Democratic plans as ruinous to recovery and named measures he said would have ended progress if enacted.

Mrs Harper Heffner 57 of Glen Alpine died suddenly at her home Saturday after a brief asthma illness. Funeral services were held at Episcopal Church of Glen Alpine with burial in a nearby cemetery. Montana Man Pays Visit To His Native County
Rev. D. O. Ray a Miles City Baptist pastor born in Wa tauga visits Deep Gap and Caldwell County. He recalls working for the Dougherty brothers in Boone in 1901 and hauling lumber for the old Watauga Academy. Ray pastored in Caldwell County before moving west to Miles City sixteen years ago and now serves Pleasant View Baptist Church in Post Falls Idaho. He will preach several sermons this week while visiting.

Farthing recovering from fractured collarbone at Grace Hospital
John Farthing son of Mr and Mrs Zeb V Farthing Route 1 is recovering from a fractured collarbone suffered during football practice at the local high school. Doctors say his condition is satisfactory and he may return home late this week. The collarbone was broken in two places and surgery may be needed to re unite the fracture.

Local officers raided a Yonahlessee Road home last Friday morning and detained three men identified as W A Williams George Williams and Hosier Maynes. The trio linked to stolen autos and items found included flour cloth ing overcoats and two automobiles with additional corroborating burglary connections across Burke Avery Rutherford and South Carolina.

Miss Jean Graham Dead After Boone Automobile Crash
Miss Jean Graham aged 24 from Boone died after a car driven by cousin Robert Graham overturned on the Boone Trail Highway near Saxon post office. A blow-out is blamed as the cause. she was pinned between the door and body before dying of a crushed chest. The other occupants, including the wife and child, were uninjured. Interment followed at Blackburn's Chapel. she was a granddaughter of Ishmael Graham and a former Appalachian College graduate. She had worked as a sales clerk at the Smithey store and was active in the Methodist church.
