Mrs Mary Elizabeth Coffey known as Miss Mollie Coffey of Boone died at her son T S Coffey s home in Statesville after a year long illness. Funeral at East Broad Street Baptist Church Statesville followed by Boone cemetery interment with relatives and townspeople attending. She was widow of Capt Thomas J Coffey a pioneer businessman of Watauga born near Todd in 1840 and spent most of her life in Boone. Her daughters Mrs W B Councill of Hickory and Mrs I S Rambo of Mountain City and son T S Coffey survive.

Washington May 11 The Watson Parker bill to abolish the railroad labor board and establish new dispute handling machinery for carriers and employees passed the Senate 69 to 13. Miles Love Paroled After Serving Two Years

Raleigh May 12 The 1926 North Carolina license plates will go on sale June 1 and motorists have forty days to equip their cars. Old tags stay valid until June 30 with a ten day grace. New plates show class letters and figures with prices from 12.50 to 40 for different classes and dealer plates at 25 plus 1 per additional plate.

Mountaineer 78-Year-Old Moonshiner Sentenced
In Asheville Judge E Y Webb sentenced 78 year old John Maxwell to 18 months in federal prison in Atlanta for moonshining. Maxwell warned he would continue making liquor until age 100 if freed. Lieut Walter Lee Sherfey commands a 36 man detachment guarding the tomb since President Harding's burial. Parker Dies in Auto Ride Near Central Park
Alton B. Parker former chief judge and Democratic presidential candidate in 1904 died in Central Park while riding in an automobile. He had contracted a cold days earlier and suffered a heart attack on the way to his country home in Eso pus New York accompanying his wife and a nurse. He was 74 years old.
