Good Dairy Cows Pay Well Locally

Mr. W. W. Wilson of Watauga County shows his six cows produced 6659 pounds of milk in May, selling at 1.40 per hundred pounds for 93.23 dollars. Feed cost was 31.52 dollars, leaving a net profit of 61.71 dollars, with milk largely from grass. The record argues that good cows pay, even at modest cheese-factory prices.

Death Claims Miss Winston and News of Visitors in Boone

Miss Virginia Hodges, 20, daughter of W. B. Hodges, died at her sister’s home in Boone after a brief illness. Interment was at Poplar Grove Church cemetery. Boone hosts 150 Winston-Salem leaders arriving for Know Your State Tour No 1 and a mountain breakfast at A. T. S. auditorium. The two day tour will visit Wilkes, Watauga, Ashe and Alleghany counties. Elizabeth Penn Seay wed Garland Estes Vaughan on June 7 1924 in Lenoir NC. From Edgecombe County two flocks yielded 101 and 46 pounds of wool respectively. Cleveland County reports 600 painted houses and barns since the campaign began.

Baptist Church Adjusts Sunday School Time for Fifth Sunday

The church moves Sunday School to 9 30 a m next Sunday to allow attendees to reach Meat Camp for the Fifth Sunday Meeting. B Y P As convene at 6 30 p m with prayer service and choir practice at 8 p m on Wednesdays.
