Valle Crucis man jailed on charge of immoral relation
George Dollar, 22, of Valle Crucis, held in the county jail on a $1000 bond for alleged immoral relations with a thirteen year old girl. The girl was placed with the county welfare officer until the next term of Watauga superior court after Dollar waived a preliminary hearing. Sheriff and witnesses questioned the reliability of the accuser while a physician reportedly found the girl chaste.

Elmo Stewart, a negro convict at work near here, attempted to flee while being escorted to work. A guard fired buckshot, hitting Stewart in the leg as he ran toward a laurel thicket. Dr. R. K. Bingham of Boone treated him. the injury was not serious.

Wagner Case Set for August 15 in Wilkes Superior Court
Witnesses and interested parties are urged to appear in Wilkesboro for the August term of Wilkes County Superior Court where the H S Wagner double slaying trial is to be called. Wagner faces charges in the Moody and Byrd murders from Christmas Day with Judge P A McElroy presiding. About 200 criminal cases are planned for trial at the term, including Bank of Wilkes related matters. Wagner is slated for Monday morning in the second week.
