Peter E. Cable 59 of Sugar Grove was swept to death Saturday while swimming with friends in the Watauga River. Jack Dougherty long time Bakers Gap resident in Tennessee died at his home last Sunday at age 76. Funeral services and interment were held Tuesday afternoon. He was a well known figure in Watauga County, brother of the late D. B. Dougherty of Boone and uncle to the Dougherty boys of Appalachian State Normal College.

Charles Greer Dies at 50 in Silverstone County
Charles W. Greer died at his Silverstone home Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday at Union Baptist Church with Reverends Ed Hodges and Wellington Swift. interment followed in the nearby cemetery. Survived by ten children, his mother, five brothers, three sisters, including J. F. Greer and Mrs. Lee Teague of Boone.
