Training School notes at Appalachian School event highlights
W H Wannamaker of Trinity College spoke at the Appalachian Training School on Saturday to the delight of friends. Miss Mattie Cora Baldon represented Zaner Blosser Co at chapel. A birthday dinner for Miss Cora Harriss was hosted by Mrs J M Moretz with Lucy Meretti assisting. Bamboo defeated Boone 8 to 7 in a Saturday baseball game. Church services Sunday featured Rev W A Stanbury and the first Communion set donated by the Young Peoples Missionary Society. Rev Norman Camp preached in the Baptist Church and spoke at the Training School. Professors and students participated in chapel and performances. J E Hillman was named Director of Teacher Training for the State. Commencement marked by high order speeches. Dr J E Hillman, Dr Highsmith, Dr J D Rankin and Rev Stanbury spoke. three graduates honored by President Dougherty. Fall term to begin August 28.

Life at Patterson Farm School in Le gerwood shows a lively student body of sixty pupils with forty boarders. Pupils study and work on crops and tractors turning soil for wheat while mules and horses remain part of daily tasks. The principal Rev H A Dobbin guides soil improvement and practical farming with eager boys hunting opossums and Scouts visiting nearby valleys and towns.

Ladies of Boone Churches Raise Net Proceeds
The Methodist and Baptist ladies of Boone sold sandwiches and lunches at a Tuesday auction to benefit both denominations. Rain insurance brought the net proceeds to about 200 dollars for church work, praised as Christian effort this summer.

Appalachian Training School’s Growth in Boone Highlighted
