A joint August 14 1923 resolution by the Boone North Carolina PTA and Chamber of Commerce requests the local school committee to cooperate with Appalachian Training School authorities to procure suitable grounds and plan a new building or seek legislature backed funding. If grounds cannot be obtained the committee should petition the Board of Education to provide a suitable new structure for the district’s growing student population.

Road Reopens Between Boone and Blowing Rock
The Democrat announces the Boone to Blowing Rock road, project 17, is open again and will likely stay open until month’s end. Closure was due to heavy construction, a major drawback to Boone this summer. Visitors to Blowing Rock can now travel the route, as can locals with business over the road.

Boone Youths Narrowly Escape After Embankment Crash
Cards: Carl Beach and Frank McGhee of Boone escaped serious injury after their car ran over a high embankment near Banner Elk. Memorial services for President Harding were held in Boone with town and Appalachian Training School students attending. The Watauga County Sunday School Convention met at Valle Crucis Methodist Church with delegates from eight townships. A Fish Hatchery site search spanned several days from Boone to Marion. Training School chapel events entertained students. President Dougherty visited Johnson City, and Proeh bury went to see his ill mother. Annual Masonic Picnic a Grand Success in Town

Harding Memorial Service Observed in North Carolina
