Hatfield & Palmer Co. gives 376 dollars and R A Brown 100 dollars as the first big contributions in a county wide war fund effort. Meetings to rally rural and town supporters are planned with multiple speaker visits and noon shop gatherings to urge generous giving.
The comptroller of the treasury releases the condition of national banks as of June 20. Vincennes defeats Bicknell 4 to 3 on Sunday.

Warrants show transfers to Washington city, Harrison and Yeale townships, Reeve, Washington, Cannerburg, Montgomery, Barr, Madison, Odom, Odon, Van Buren, Elmore, Steele, and Bogard townships with amounts ranging from 73.34 to 21,496.98.
Washington reports firm notes to Mexico from the United States and backed by Britain protesting high Tampico oil field taxes and a decree forcing foreign firms to operate under a Mexican charter. The aim is to avoid confiscation and preserve protections from home governments as Mexico plans July 1 tax enforcement.

One of Lexington's oldest residents, Mrs. Mary Ann McKinney, 87, died Sunday at her daughter’s home after a general breakdown. Born Mary Ann Williams, she moved to Lexington as a girl and married Griffin McKinney in 1852. Surviving children include Mrs. George Keith and Mrs. H. Q. Bowers. services at 10 Tuesday at the daughter’s home with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.
President Wilson signed the export control bill today placing into effect embargo provisions to restrict shipments of food commodities to foreign nations. He also created an executive council to coordinate foreign policy through representatives from the State Department Agriculture Commerce and War Departments.
New York reports Theodore Roosevelt announced his two sons Theodore Jr and Archibald have gone to France and will join General Pershing's staff. He said Kermit and Quentin will follow, keeping to his promise to place all four sons in service for Uncle Sam.
In Galveston Texas a mob of about 100 overpowered a county jail guard, seized Henry Sawyer a mulatto accused of attacking a white woman, and hanged him from a sign post at the scene of the alleged crime the mob then dispersed.

Athena June 25 United Press reports the entire Ministres resigning. Former premier Venizelos, leader of the provisional Greek government, may be named by King Alexander to head a new cabinet, a move seen as uniting monarchial factions and pleasing the public.
A group of twelve American consulate officials and families traveling to Turkey with forty nine missionaries from Syria and forty one Jewish women and children from Palestine remain in Constantinople awaiting Vienna permission to cross Austria. Austria has agreed in principle but has not issued individual permits. The situation highlights complex travel hurdles for U.S. citizens amid postwar diplomatic constraints.
