Daviess county rural schools will open in September for organizational work and then adjourn until Monday the 4th for the start of classes. The schedule was announced by D. H. Carter county superintendent and approved by the county board of education.
A young man went to cultivate corn yesterday morning but returned late after his cultivator broke. He did not come home as his stepfather searched the area. Nearby workers say he left at around 11 o clock and was last seen near the Big Four freight pass.
Anna C. Wells, noted resident, died after a brief illness. The funeral service will be held at St. John's Cemetery with local officials and family attending.
Police search the highways for a man with dark hair and a scar on his left cheek in connection with the fatal shooting of George Hall. An autopsy cites a 82 caliber bullet entering from the rear as cause of death. The body was found on a dirt road near St. John after being dumped there hours after the incident.
Rev E Craig Brande, pastor of the First United Church in Evansville, is set as the top principal speaker at tomorrow’s Christian service at the First Church. The event gathers local congregants for a community spiritual gathering and sermon.

Yde Morgan twenty four year old local trucker was to appear in justice of peace court this morning to answer a charge of reckless driving. Morgan was charged in an affidavit with driving his gravel truck into the rear of a car driven by Herschel Isaacs near Plainville last Saturday afternoon.
Petersburg Ind June 24 professional divers joined in the search for Eileen Royalty 17 missing Pike county girl after 25 Washington D C corps failed to locate her remains near abandoned strip mine pits at Winslow. Sheriff Cleve Goodman reported efforts ongoing with diving teams bottom of the pit and potential dynamite use if no body is found. Footprints and water-edges indicate she may have fallen in the pit near her home.
Developments in the Far Eastern situation report twelve more Soviet planes shot down by Japanese craft during a fresh invasion of Manchukuo from Outer Mongolia. Advices said the total since June 1st reached 120 as official quarters warned Britain’s cooperation terms and anti-Japanese terrorism could trigger further restrictions in Tianjin.

Vincennes June 24 police joined Illinois authorities to pursue two escapees linked to a kidnapping report. A driver said he was forced to drive at high speed toward Evansville after being abducted, nearly crashing during the ordeal. Suspects Tony Bar and another man, aged 58 and 46, were believed escaped inmates from a Southern Illinois prison.

In Hayward Wisconsin on June 24 over 200 armed deputies and possemen surrounded a swampland cabin hideout where Ray Tarzan Olson, killer of two deputy sheriffs, was believed trapped after a gunfight with a four man posse.
Ward was received here today of the death of Mrs Mary E Hall, wife of Richard Hall, of Mitchell.
Robert Eugene Stone aged two years six months son of David and ee Stone of 613 Grove died this morning at 10:22 at Daviess County Hospital after a brief illness. Born December 11, 1936 in this city the child was a member of local families and attended by relatives.
