City council lets painting project at West End fire station
Monday night the council awarded the painting contract to R W Braun with a bid of 260 after five bids were opened. Other bids included W B Fielder 174.50 Raymond Conley 220 Hedrick & Stevenson 223 and Louis Streeter 329. The council also accepted a proposal to relocate the old Kellams home on East Grove street to create an extended city entrance near Grove and Portersville roads. A resolution approved the prima facia assessment roll for curb and gutter on N Eighth and Mill streets with remonstrances set for July 14 at 7 30. Meat costs totaled 1908 44. The civil engineer and city officials discussed remonstrances on East South street improvements and referred the matter for further consideration amid concerns over dustproofing and cost to property owners.

William Rudd, 68, retired farmer of Plainville, died at 1 05 this morning after a two year illness. He was born April 13, 1862 in Kentucky, son of Wm Rudd and his German native father.
