Indiana state labor commissioner Thomas F. Hutson announced that it is unlawful to forcibly or fraudulently remove or decoy persons from any place and escort them beyond community limits. The state affirms workers’ right to peaceably assemble to organize, advise, notify others of activities, and inform workers about efforts to promote labor organizations.
Mrs Robert Gregory was scalded while removing cans from a steam cooker when a can of scalding water toppled, pouring onto her ankle and shoe. The injury was very painful but not believed to be serious.
West End firemen were called to the Denver Foundry on West Main street late yesterday where a small fire started in the ventilator. Minor damage was caused.

Worley reports cuts in WPA payroll to take effect by July 15 with 20 to 30 Daviess County workers affected. Total federal projects ending June 30 will affect 398 workers, including arts and archives tasks, while Project No. 1 arts and theatre remain federally funded. Officials say displaced WPA workers who find private industry work will be replaced on WPA rolls if due to no fault of their own.
William Alfred Miles, nine weeks old, son of Clarence A and Velma Miles, died after a short illness. The infant was born September and was to arrive in Washington by train at 4:20 this afternoon for burial arrangements at Alfred Miles 908 McKeller. Funeral plans will be announced by Miles family.
David B. Jenkins of R R 4 awaited last night for treatment. Pauline Dant of Montgomery R R 2 submitted to a major operation this morning. Emmalou Cooper of Plainville underwent a minor operation this morning.
Then Liverpool Lodge 110 of the Odd Fellows bought the Judge Burton homestead at 607 East Main and converted it into a lodge home. The dedication occurred Sunday afternoon October 20, 1912 with J K L Harmon of Elkhart as Grand Master delivering the keynote address. Local and visiting members filled the spacious building for the fraternal event.
