Walter Brochin, a local young man, has been seriously ill at Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis for several days. Reported today by his parents Mr and Mrs Gus Brochin of N W First Street, he is somewhat senient after a period of illness following an injury or illness that struck him earlier.
Bruceville June 16 Death Tuesday claimed Dr. George W. Mayfield prominent physician and one of the oldest residents. Son of Dr. Thomas and Elizabeth Mayfield born December 12, 1856. Taught school ten years before studying medicine and began practice here years ago. Retired and in failing health. Survived by sister Elizabeth, brother Joe B. Mayfield, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral arrangements not announced.
Jacob G. Clark was appointed receiver for the Southwestern Indiana Corporation of Pike county after Judge Frank E. Gilkison ruled in Daviess circuit court that a receiver should be appointed. The suit by Roy D. Lloyd and others accused Ocean Coal Corporation and related firms of mismanagement of coal lands totaling about three million dollars in value.
