The sudden death of Mrs. Roland A L Baker occurred at the pretty home on the north side at 7 30 Sunday evening. Peritonitis was the cause after several weeks of illness. She was 26, daughter of J W Crooke of Ladgootee and had made many friends in the few months she lived here. Many expressions of sympathy were heard today for the family. Burial plans were being arranged.

Miss Margaret E. Clauss, popular young lady, will marry Joseph P. Mangin of this city. The ceremony occurs at St. Marys Church on Tuesday June 18 at 8 oclock in the morning. A reception will follow at the Mangin home at noon and again at 6 oclock that evening.
The county educator Mr. McHenry leaves office after a four year tenure praising his work to raise school standards. He emphasizes fair dealings with patrons and teachers, reduced partisanship, and a aim to advance education through better trained staff and student knowledge. Citizens thank him and hope for continued progress under a new successor.
Excursion trains from Terre Haute Linton and Evansville will bring large Woodmen of the World delegations to Washington for the unveiling of a monument over the grave of James T. Albin. Hundreds are expected in the city with local lodges decorating. About 160 Woodmen attended the Oak Grove cemetery ceremony.
The remains of Robert Pendleton a colored man killed in Terre Haute were brought home to Maple Street viewable Sunday. The body was moved to Hopkinsville Kentucky for burial. Pendleton died after being run over by a locomotive on the Vandalia line and his body was cut in two. He carried $133 life insurance with Metropolitan Company.
The jury acquitted Hugh Murdock in Memphis Tennessee on a charge of transforming a two dollar bill into twenty dollars. This was his second trial after the first jury failed to reach a verdict. Murdock formerly resided here.
The annual readjustment of salaries elevates Washington postmaster Edward Faith from 2300 dollars to 2400 dollars per year.
The International Convention of the Women's Union Label League is announced for Logansport from June 4 to 8. A feature will attack firms selling headgear and hats without the union label including hats, bonnets, picture hats, chapeaux, and baby hoods.
