An unnamed well known Black man died today in Terre Haute after a traffic collision. Police say the incident occurred on a city street and an inquiry is underway.
Dan Gompa and Robert Pendleton, colored men, were killed in Terre Haute this morning after Pendleton was said to be struck by a Vandalia train in the yards. Pendleton had lived in Hopkinsville and Vincennes and left behind a wife and two children. The family was notified by telephone and the exact accident details remain unclear.
Four candidates John M. Vance Ben Burris John McCarter and Grant Callahan converge on the court house for a 9 o clock caucus as seven Republican trustees seek votes. First ballot forecasts Hint at Vance Burris McCarter and Callahan with tentative supports from Brown Sigs Stuckey and others.
