The Masterpiece and the Rise of a Painted Saint
The artist Philip Sutherkind, destitute after years of failure, accepts a commission to paint a life size Master and funds a year of study. He travels to a Connecticut village where he crafts a new ideal of man, aided by friend Roderick. Upon completion the work reveals a spiritual rebirth echoing Christ’s rise, and the two men conclude with a church moment linking art and faith.
