Scout the canine actor rises from tramp to star of show
A globe trotting canine named Scout joins Gentry Frothers Shows in Washington for a week at Fourteenth and W streets NW. Once a hungry tramp in Butte, Scout was saved by Frank Gentry and proved a gifted performer, performing a fifty foot high dive, a somersault, and riding a two wheel bicycle. Now about six years old, Scout earns his life in luxury aboard the show, receiving cooked meals and a state room aboard the canine train, and is regarded as the most valuable dog in the act.

Theatrical gossip and casting notes from Washington and New York
The piece details many stage moves including Lucia Huxford joining Capt. Barrington in New York rehearsals, Bessie Conwell joining Lulu Glaser in A Madcap Princess, and Schumann Heink’s company casting. It notes Edwin Ayden’s rise to star with Proctor stock at Fifth Avenue Theater and the Soldiers of Fortune vehicle for Robert Edeson. It also covers Robert Hickman Dramatic School reopening October 1, and Gladys Towle debuting after her Thanksgiving College Widow appearance plus Annie Yeamans in The Maid and the Mummy with reminiscences of Boucicault and a thunderous stage anecdote.
