Tacoma Washington September 15. Fear grows for eight day missing exploring party in Tacoma foothills after severe storms. The party included the state engineer and aides with commissioners from Yakima and Pierce counties. Assistant engineer Jameson reports they endured two foodless days on glaciers while attempting to cross. Commissioner Peterson of Pierce county succumbed to the cold and a horse was needed to carry him. He had been expected back yesterday but there is no word yet.
Edinand Pinney Earle, returning from Europe under a pseudonym, checked into the Hotel Marie Antoinette with his mother in residence for the winter. He had married Dorothea Elbert Stewart during his travels in Surrey, England. Earle appeared fatigued but likely to stay in the city through the season.
Special to The Washington Post. Kate Claxton once starred in The Two Orphans will appear in Hast St. Louis city court to contest a 1901 divorce obtained by Charles Jevenson. She alleges desertion as the ground and says he lived with her afterward in Larchmont, New York, until their separation. She learned of the marriage to Frances Riley in April 1910.
Laura Burns a seven year old from Morrisville is gravely injured after a lion mauls her in a Henata sideshow cage at the state fair. Spectators crowded the tent as attendants beat the animal to release her. the victim suffered severe injuries including the loss of an eye.
William Rankin, oldest Williams College graduate, marked his 101st birthday at his daughter’s home in Summit. He is the oldest known Williams alumnus and represents the earliest surviving member of the class of 1931 in the United States.
John A. Strothkamp former Morrison justice of the peace fired a shotgun at a barn thinking intruders were present and wounded a horse owned by Mrs. Margaret Fox of Brentwood Plaza.
