London dispatch reports Italians repelling a Turkish night assault on Tripoli. Italian marines held the west flank as fleet guns shelling from offshore aided the defense. Arabs looted after the bombardment, blamed on escaped prisoners. vast destruction of public buildings followed.
Belisario Dominguez of Comitan challenged rebel leader Juan Espanola Torres to a duel to the death over the Chiapas capital. Dominguez proposes a split pistol duel with one loaded, determining whether Tuxtla Gutierrez or San Cristobal de las Casas will house the capital.
Everett Washington October 10 special to The Washington Post reports that camera squads prevented wholesale voting by women in the city election. A district suspected of harboring illegal voters was checked with cameras at polling places. Photographs were taken of entrants and voters, but officials believe no illegal votes occurred.
New York October 10. Iha von Claussen declares she has taken first papers for restoration of German citizenship and wishes to marry again for support for her girl. She defied Tombs court, shouting she will not be committed to Bellevue Hospital for five days. She criticized Justice Greenbaum and described a courtroom struggle as a scheme to keep her from divorcing her second husband.

Special Cable reports from Peking describe mutiny by several hundred troops at Wuchang after revolutionary headquarters were found in Hankow Russian concession. Barracks burned overnight and heavy fire heard toward Wuchang. Revolt guards foreign missions and property as the situation remains grave.

A taxi carrying Charles B. Shreve Jr and family skidded into John T. Crowley’s delivery wagon near Rhode Island Avenue and Ninth Street Northwest. At Railroad Crossing near Rixey Station Virginia a Great Falls and Old Dominion Rail Road car struck a wagon ridden by J P Craulfield of Washington D C and Kramer of Ball Hill Virginia and a negro boy injuring two men and the boy. Craulfield suffered cuts and possible internal injuries. Kramer was cut about the face and body. The boy had a lacerated leg. The wagon and horse were dragged onto the tracks. The boy escaped the full impact by leaping away. Engineer George T Tellowe stopped the car and helped the injured and the driver testified he blew the whistle but could not avert the crash.
