Glenn Booms Harm on South May Seek Second Place

Richmond Va Nov 2 Judson Harmon governor of Ohio will be the next presidential nominee of the Democratic party in my judgment declined ex Gov RB Glenn of North Carolina at the Richmond Hotel today. He is an exceptionally able man and his election as governor on the Democratic ticket in a state that had one of its own sons as the Republican candidate was a remarkable feat. Everywhere I have been in my tour for the country I have found Harmony a fine leading candidate. I am of the opinion that the South should demand that the next vice presidential candidate of the Democratic party be a Southern man. We do the voting and we ought to be represented on the ticket. I take no stock in the old argument that a Southern on the ticket would lose votes in the North. The war is over and the people of the North will support a Southern official as readily as any other. I have traveled through Western states and found no sentiment against Southern participation in national politics. I am active in politics and expect to take a hand in the next campaign. Though I have been engaged in other activities I shall renew my work for the party when the time comes.
