Negotiations resume between the federal government and insurrectos in Juarez as proposals include replacing half the Diaz cabinet with four revolutionists and allowing fourteen Madero party governors. A milk train on the Mohawk and Malone division of the New York Central Railroad crashed into an automobile near East's bridge, Herkimer County. Three occupants were instantly killed, Frederick Harvey the chauffeur died in hospital, and two others were fatally or seriously hurt. The auto party was eastbound, crossing a bridge when struck at about 40 miles per hour, sending them in all directions. In Ohio, Leroy Sheldon died and three railroad conductors were seriously injured when their vehicle struck a hole in the road west of Ashtabula.
Rawson Wilson a Kenilworth grocer survived a shooting at his store by a light-skinned assailant. He joked with surgeons and detectives, saying it would take more than three bullets to finish him. Police recovered a bone-handled dirk near his store and suspect a robbery motive. A suspect, Leck Thomas, was arrested and held for Wilson to identify.

In New York on May 14 a dark-maned lion named Black Prince mauled trainer Vincent River o while Rivero helped drive the animal from its cage toward the stage. Captain Bonavita aimed to use the animal as a performer at Col Joe Ferrari's Dreamland arena. Seven invited guests witnessed the injury as the skull was torn from above the left ear to the temple with additional gashes on the head back and torso. The show will not open to the public until next Saturday.
John Connell and his wife run a summer boarding house at Monticello New York. While cleaning a yard he uncovered a nest of garter snakes under a flat stone. He and his wife counted 113 dead snakes totaling 3 013 inches. He kept the reptiles as proof of the event.

The body of a woman found in the East River near East Eighty ninth Street is suspected to be Dorothy Arnold, the society girl missing since December. Brother John Arnold identified features and jewelry as not matching Dorothy, while coroner’s physician notes the remains had been dead at least two months.
Otto Strobl of McKeesport set an alarm for 4 AM and two hours later was found hanged from an apple tree two miles from home. After a evening with his wife and four children, he bought sweets and said the children would enjoy Sunday. He rose when the alarm rang, dressed in his best, and then threw the alarm clock into a well before hanging himself. A friend later aided in rope retrieval, but Strobl had already taken his own life.
Philip Bayard United States vice consul to Tangier and son of Thomas F. Bayard died after falling from a veranda at Garfield Hospital. Coroner orders inquest. autopsy confirms pericarditis and fatal shock. Survived by mother and siblings. burial planned in Wilmington. Bayard recently moved from Baltimore and was to be promoted to secretary of the legation.

He risked 30000 last August, missing rain, and has put 175000 over five years for a bumper yield across 17000 acres costing 30 per acre. He seeks an average 20 to 30 bushels per acre and plans to continue weather bets until a strong year arrives.
