Court approves third plan for Reading segregation

In Reading a third modified plan for the Reading Company and its underlyings was filed in federal court amid objections by minority stockholders who say it favors bondholders. The plan would raise interest on 12 percent bonds issued by the Heading Company and merge with the Philadelphia and Reading Railway and Coal and Iron interests. Bondholders committee and trustees reportedly assent to the plan, while some stockholders seek objections. The government asked for a delay to allow Justice Department review. Also, ICC authorized Chicago, Milwaukee and St Paul to issue 313.5 million in 4 3/4 percent equipment trust certificates for 1923 purchases, and granted Chicago Rock Island and Pacific permission to issue 1 million in general mortgage and 1 million in refunding mortgage bonds for collateral.
