Auto Kills Woman In Tragic Washington Crash

Mrs Margaret Collins 35 wife of druggist C F Collins was killed instantly when struck by a high powered racing car on Rhode Island avenue at Seventh street NW. Arthur I Williams 21 of 1642 Sixth Street NW was arrested and held without bail. he said he could not see her until the car was upon her. Williams, with two companions, stopped nearby to aid, took the body to Garfield Hospital, and he and companions were questioned at the Eighth precinct. Coroner Nevitt ordered an autopsy at the morgue after the inquest. Mrs Collins lived with her husband at 627 North Carolina avenue SE and leaves two children Hugh 8 and Margaret 5. Williams claimed speed was under eight miles an hour. he said he sounded the horn but could not avoid the collision. Williams was manager for J S Berryman dealer in motorcycles.

Forty Babies by May Day in Star City Plan

In Morgantown date line March 17 a Star City population push pledges to deliver forty babies by May 1 113 or bust by 4 the slogan adopted nineteen months ago. Thirty three babies have already been born and locals expect to surpass the target. Paralyzed caretaker found near telephone in Belleville

Tony Hemmer a 60 year old custodian at the Lake Christine Club grounds near Belleville was found paralyzed and nearly freezing after spending hours within reach of a telephone. A duck shooter who entered the clubhouse to warm himself reported Hemmer showed rare hope when found but doctors warned little chance of recovery.
