A Norfolk to Jamestown Exposition voyage aboard a crack liner ended with a fire in the hold. Passengers remained ignorant until safe ashore as Fireboats and Commodore Leyland aided recovery. Commodore Leyland and Captain Blix and crew steadied the ship as firefighters battled the blaze and passengers were escorted to safety. the loss was estimated near 15000. The Hamilton fire-boat and New Yorker crew assisted, with injuries and hospital care following the incident.

Bandit Robs 45 Passengers Near Ukiah

A lone bandit halted a Potter Valley railway crowd ten miles north of Ukiah and robbed 45 passengers of valuables including several hundred dollars and watches. No shots were fired and no injuries reported. One woman was forced to surrender her wedding ring. The suspect showed no violence and fled after the raid.

Injured to Save Girls from Oncoming Car Crash

Four people were injured when a touring car driven by William Tod Wilcox swerved to avoid two children on Bell Avenue near Flushing. The car ditched into a ditch and rolled onto two wheels, sending Wilcox and passengers against each other. Lieut Walton Sexton of the battleship Connecticut and Gerald De Mermado suffered compound leg fractures. the two girls were among the others shaken and hurt as the vehicle overturned near the Oak Club. The chauffeur was unharmed.

Woman Falls From Window in Sanatorium Brawl

Clara Burkhardt of Philadelphia reportedly fell or jumped from an eleventh floor window of Marie Roystone sanatorium at 6 West Fourth Street and was hospitalized in critical condition with fractures and internal injuries. Mrs Roystone and residents placed her arrival a week earlier, with two roommates present in the room when the incident occurred. Woman in Auto Killed in Arnolds Will Estate Crash
