Ice famine relieved by cargo from Maine
Washington’s ice shortage eased with the arrival of the schooner Kreger, carrying 1,800 tons for the American Ice Company. Unloading began at the Ninth street dock and service resumed. Manager Samuel A. Kimberly said the delivery ends the severe famine this summer and predicts ample supply from Maine and local plants. Two more barges, totaling 4,000 to 5,000 tons, were expected soon, with additional shipments from Maine forthcoming.

Commission’s power limited by judge over Union Station case
Justice Gould discharged the rule to show cause against the Union Terminal Station grade-claims commission after hearing that it cannot award damages for street closures tied to station construction. The ruling aligns with Justice Barnard's view that the commission lacks authority to instruct the commission on law, limiting the panel to indirect damage assessments from local street changes around Union Station.
