New York July 19 Judge Hand ruled failure to declare an entire trunk does not prove an attempt to smuggle. Mrs Anna McNally a dressmaker had a trunk of Paris finery seized on arrival in March last year. The ruling allows her trunk to be personal baggage and not merchandise, negating intent to smuggle.

King Alonzo Adams supreme ruler and owner of Swan Island in the Caribbean arrives aboard the steamship Limon at port from Port Limon Costa Rica. Adams signs a conference with State Department officials and plans to visit principal Eastern cities with his daughter-in-law Mrs WS Adams aboard the yacht.
Marine Lt Roelker dies after a struggle recounted by Sutton and associates. Testimony on July 8 at Annapolis Naval Court of Inquiry details Sutton turning revolver when he believed he killed the officer. Sutton and family appear amid press, photographers, and court proceedings.
