Thirteen year old Elizabeth Berens was run down on I street southwest near Seventh street yesterday evening. She suffered a skull fracture and internal injuries and was rushed to Emergency Hospital where surgeons performed a quick operation. Charles C. Wells of 3027 M Street NW was driving. witnesses say she darted in front of the car after Wells tried to avoid her. Wells aided the girl to the hospital and gave his name. her condition was listed as critical but improving early morning. The girl is the daughter of Mrs Sarah Berens of 645 I Street Southwest. She had been errands for her mother when hit.
