Favor Rate Control Need of Foreign Markets Unites Stock Groups

Demands for federal control of railroad rates and expanded foreign markets for American meats dominated the joint convention of the American Stock Growers' Association and the National Live Stock Association. They merged into the American National Live Stock Association with Murdo Mackenzie elected president. The body, representing about 10,000 store growers and allied groups, vows to press Congress for rate regulation and in transit protections while seeking freer access to foreign markets, especially England. The meeting featured remarks by Frank J. Hagenbarth and others on improving beef prices and international trade, and urged faster approval of measures to extend unloading time and inspectorate for meat exports.
