Weinley Relic Sold From McKinley Estate

A gold 14 carat plate with Knights Templar symbol, bearing President McKinley’s likeness, was sold by a pawnbroker to be presented at a May 17 1901 commandery meeting. The plate, 4x8 inches, contains 126 to 150 pennyweights of gold and a 1 carat diamond. The seller was Mrs Mabel McKinley Baer, niece of the late president, now in Chicago.

Robbery at Wing Lee Laundry Sees $7 Grabbed by Three

Three armed youths entered Wing Lee laundry at 2000 Georgia Ave last night after 8. They bound and gagged the Chinaman, ransacked two rooms and stole $7 from the cash drawer plus unspecified trinkets. They fled, vowing harm if the victim alerted authorities, leaving the victim bound for over an hour before a grocer across the street learned of the assault. The victim provided a partial description. no masks were worn and the robbers appeared young, possibly 10 to 20 years old.
