Georgetown Wharf Privilege Not Renewed on Thirtieth Street
The Georgetown wharf rights committee recommends to Engineer Commissioner Col. Biddie that M. F. Norris be informed the District will not renew the lease for wharf privileges on Thirtieth Street when it expires in May. The decision follows a corporate counsel opinion that the District lacks authority to lease streets for wharf use. A committee inspection found Norris using the street bed to store materials received at the wharf, and he should cease violating the lease terms prohibiting street storage.

Bryan's lecture delays loom large in Alexandria
A large Opera House audience awaiting William Jennings Bryan saw him delayed by a storm travel scramble between Philadelphia and Baltimore. He arrived in Washington then walked to the meeting, later returning by electric railway, while Rev. John A. Wray resigned as pastor of First Baptist Church after nine months in Alexandria. The storm disrupted trains, with Mount Vernon line limited and many passengers rerouted. Local society notes include the Ladies' Card Club event at Mrs Smoot's on Prince Street and engagements and court notices.
