Street too small for name on California avenue
Commissioners reported unfavorably on Senator Gelinger's bill to restore the name of California avenue in the city. The street, once extended from Florida avenue to Nineteenth street and from Connecticut to Massachusetts avenues, is split by a large block with an apartment house, making connection unlikely. The term avenue was deemed inappropriate for such a short highway and a different designation was proposed for a new highway.
