Louis H Turrell, longtime Standard Oil employee, testified at a Missouri attorney general inquiry in Cleveland that he was induced to sign false signatures on papers forming the Republic Oil Company. Mob Clamor at Jail Over Tennessee Assault Case

In Chattanooga on January 25 a crowd of about 1500, armed at times, gathered outside the county jail demanding a black suspect in the Tuesday night assault of Miss Nevada Taylor at St Elmo.
