Commissioners Oppose Restoring California Avenue Name

The board reported unfavorably on Senator Gallinger’s bill to restore the name California Avenue in the city. They note the street now known as T Street lies between Florida and Nineteenth streets, with a large apartment building breaking the connection, and that the term avenue does not fit its three block length and varying widths. A proposal suggested renaming California Avenue to an unchosen highway.
