Fixes Monoxide Limit Defines Gas Bill For Congress

A draft bill to ban district gas companies from producing or selling gas with more than ten percent carbon monoxide has been prepared by Corporation Counsel Thermas. The measure, to be introduced by district committees, would require gas inspectors to regularly examine gas used for heating and lighting and report violations. Penalties include fines from 10 to 500 and possible imprisonment up to six months, with daily offenses treated as separate counts. The bill will seek a later effective date and separate legislation to set minimum pressure, tied to expert statements.
