Man shoots at would-be suitor after marriage refusal
Amos Brown a cab driver fired on Mrs Joachim and her daughter when she refused his marriage proposals, injuring both. He tackled the mother and then shot the daughter who tried to shield her. Both were taken to Casualty Hospital with the mother in critical condition and the daughter recovering from neck wounds. Brown was captured nearby and jailed.
