Marshall Field Ill in New York Pneumonia Grave

New York January 10 Marshall Field the Chicago merchant ill at the Holland House was reported improving then worsened. Drs James Ganeway Riggs and others attended and at ten o clock it was stated he was suffering from pneumonia with grave condition. Stanley Field his nephew arrived from Chicago and is at the bedside.

Eight Die In West Hotel Fire in Minneapolis

An early morning blaze at the West Hotel on Hennepin avenue and Fifth street caused eight deaths from smoke and falls and left about a score injured. Fire Capt. John Berwin died saving a woman. several guests leaped from seventh floor. a dramatic rescue lowered families to safety amid cheering crowds. The fire started in a packing room near the elevator shaft, smoke filled the building, and hospitals and ambulances rushed to aid the victims.
