Bradley Martin Jr Wins Customs Case on Nonresident Status
United States Court of Customs Appeals reversed the collector and the board of general appraisers in the Bradley Martin Jr. case. Martin, an American citizen who had lived abroad since 1881 and entered banking in New York in 1909, was deemed not a resident of the United States at his arrival. The ruling found sufficient external facts to support his claim of nonresidence and upheld his exemption from duty on his belongings.
