Custody Battle Over Artist's Son Reaches New York Court

Marie Eustis Hofmann wife of pianist Josef Hofmann sails home from Europe to seek custody of her six year old son George Morris Eustis. Miner Conley Hanged After Spanish Trial in New Mexico

John Conley, a miner who killed James Redding and Charles Purdy at Guadaloupe placers on January 16, 1904, was executed by hanging in Taos after being found wounded in his cell. The Spanish-speaking jury conviction and lack of transcript funds halted a Supreme Court appeal. Gov. Haggerman refused a 30 day reprieve. Bullet Strikes Passenger on Pennsylvania Railroad Car

Joseph Boyd, a passenger on a Fort Wayne Railroad accommodation train, narrowly escaped death when a bullet shattered the car window near Glenfield. The missile struck Boyd in the head, inflicting a bad scalp wound. the train halted and search for the shooter followed, but he was not found.
