Train wreckers declared insane in Ohio

Mrs Dolly Carpenter and Grover Baughman were adjudged insane in Tiffin Ohio and sent to the Toledo State asylum. Carpenter admitted her part in the crime. Authorities suspect others were involved and expect several arrests within days. An affidavit of insanity was sworn by Carpenter's brother William Hoke. Baughman’s father fled the affidavit against his son. Neither prisoner resisted as they were taken away.

Claim on Marshall Field Estate Sparks Swiss Claimant

A Swiss bootmaker named Marshall, residing in Ion, Switzerland, claims he is the nephew of the late Marshall Field. A mob of about 500 in Bienville Parish shot Wiltz Page, a 30-year-old black man, and burned his body after identifying him as the suspect in assaulting an 11 year old girl. Vanderbilt Auto Run Down Boy Triggers Mob Clash

Mr and Mrs W K Vanderbilt Jr detained after their car struck a five year old boy near Pontedera Italy. A mob attacked them and their chauffeur. Vanderbilt drew a revolver to deter the crowd but was disarmed and both men were beaten. Gendarmes intervened rescuing the chauffeur and freeing the couple.
