In Douai France on February 9 two aviators Noel and Delatorre were killed during a military aeroplane trial before War Department experts. Noel piloted the craft and Delatorro was a passenger as the machine folded its wings from about 250 feet, crashing to the ground. Both men died with fractured skulls. In Antwerp on February 9 aviator Bogmiet fell 40 feet, breaking arms and legs and is reported in critical condition.
Special to The Washington Post reports William Thaward disappeared during his honeymoon. Detective Frank Lee from North Side police heads to the West Indies after Thaward was last heard near Jamaica. Authorities fear he may have broken his six months sobriety pledge to Miss Gladys V Bradley of Bridgeport Conn before marriage.
New York reports Charles M. Schwab, steel magnate, gambling in Monte Carlo. He reportedly quit $10,000 ahead, played boldly, avoided photographs, and paid for photos he deemed valuable before smashing the plate. Local friends note his aversion to cameras and his restless tempo at the tables.
George Lee Peabody 42 prominent Boston banker dies in Johns Hopkins Hospital Baltimore after three skull growth surgeries by Dr. Harvey Cushing. Engaged to Edythe Deacon, who visited daily from Washington. Once married Elizabeth Crowninshield, he separated and divorced in 197. He was a member of Lee Higginson & Co. and a polo enthusiast.
Phoenix February 9 The anticonstitutionalists hoped for under 60 percent support but returns from major towns across nearly all fourteen counties show a solid pro ratification. Votes ran often as high as 3 to 1 in favor.

Fourteen miners trapped by a blast at the Coakdale mine eight miles from Trinidad Colorado. Rescue efforts were rushed to the shaft as crews work to reach the entombed workers after the explosion occurred tonight in the Coakdale mine near Trinidad.
