Wants Platt Ousted Over Express Companies Conspiracy
A Battle Creek man, W. Post, filed with Senate President pro tempore Frye a petition seeking Thomas C. Platt's expulsion from the Senate. Post accuses Platt, as head of United States Express Co, of conspiracy with six express firms to fix rates, oppose post bills, and profit from excess charges. He cites an anti trust plan that would harm express firms but aid the public and government. An affidavit from Clarence E. Dawson supports the claim that Platt opposed post checks due to business interests. The petition requests Senate inquiry and expulsion if proven.
