Damara Wreck Bites Nova Scotia Coast In Blizzard
In a raging blizzard off Musquodoboit Nova Scotia the Damara of the Furness Line ran on the rocks and foundered. The first officer and eighteen crew escaped in a lifeboat landing at Pleasant Point exhausted and frostbitten while Captain Gorst four passengers and ten crew remain missing after a harrowing open boat voyage. Survivors reached Musquodoboit Harbor and wired Halifax of the disaster. Tugs were sent to locate the hull and the missing boat adrift in the Atlantic. The Damara had sailed from Liverpool January 24 toward Halifax via St Johns. All surviving crew said to be shipped in England.

Two Nonunion Men Slain in Scranton Street Fight
